A: Yes, this DVD drive works with Windows 10. As the newer released Windows systems have discontinued the internal DVD media player software, customers using Windows 10 and above are advised to Install VLC Media player to Play DVD’s and CD’s. Also, check closely for the link (below), regarding a DVD drive that can’t work with windows 10. Check clearly and do what is recommended. Then the DVD drive will work properly.
Note: It is important that you have a media player such as the free version of VLC media player installed before you connect the DVD player. Windows does not have a default player installed.
2. Q: Why does this drive play a CD well in Catalina, but can’t play a DVD?（Details of the operation are on page 7 of the manual.）
A: The newest Apple update for Catalina can play a CD well but can’t play a DVD. It is necessary to install DVD playback software to play a DVD.
Please follow these steps to play DVD as below:
Please open your APP Store. You will see the Category, click it and there is an Entertainment option. Click it and you will see some playback software options that are free. Please choose the free playback software, choose one suitable to your needs, and install it. After that open the file on the playback, choose the disc to play. It should now function properly.
Note: It is important that you have a media player such as the free version of VLC media player installed before you connect the DVD player. Catalina does not have a default player installed.

Not compatible with windows 10 pro.
Not compatible with windows 10 pro, even after downloading the recommended program. Crashes about 30 seconds after inserting a disc and won’t eject the disc unless you unplug the unit and re power it back on. Tried multiple times with different types of discs for about 2 hours and then gave up. Unit returned. On the plus side shipping was fast and the unit looked nice.

Exactly what I needed
I needed this to import music from cds to ITunes. Installation was fast and easy. Doesnât feel cheaply made. Price was reasonable. Packaged quite nicely. Would definitely recommend this product.

Efficient Drive
I am pleased with the purchase so far anyway, as I have only burned CD`s. It is fast and easy to hook up with 2 separate cords provided. I will know more once I see how a DVD works. I am upgrading my internet soon- as the fiber group is coming to my neighborhood, thankfully.

Windows 11??? Not Completely
I recently upgraded to a Windows 11 laptop which does not have an internal disc drive. I tried this external drive because the description said that it worked with Windows11 which it does to an extent. It will play a CD and it will play a DVD but it will not burn a CD which occasionally I still have a need to do. I have no need to burn DVDs which was never listed as a feature. For some users with basic needs, this device may suffice. I’ve got to keep looking for an external unit that I is completely compatible with Windows 11.
