Works great to burn CD-Rs and play all CDs!
I previously purchased a similar item from another marketplace… and it didn’t work. Windows 10 couldn’t recognize it at all! It must not be a USB compliant device!This one worked out of the box, and only requires ONE USB cable – Whereas the other one had two!I’ve only tried to burn it at 24x, and did 12 of my tracks as an Audio CD – No problems.I’d definitely recommend this product.

Excellent burner for the price!
I got this Ziweo drive to replace an LG DVD burner I had been using for about a year. I burn quite a few DVDs and the LG lasted 500 discs or so. I replaced it with this drive entirely because of its low price, but was pleasantly surprised to see it works even better for me than the reliable old LG did.One of the big things in the plus column for me is that this drive is slightly larger than my LG drive which gives the disc more clearance inside the disc bay. This is important. I have had several issues with discs failing to duplicate because of extra-thick disc labels. These types of labels left very little room inside the LG disc drive, and sometimes the disc would skip off the top of the drive and the burning or reading process would be ruined. This new drive is only a few millimeters thicker than the LG, but this tiny amount of extra room means no more ruined discs due to label issues!On top of that, the drive is built much more solidly than the LG drive and it generates a lot less heat and vibration. Sometimes if I was burning discs on the go and had to set my disc burner on whatever surface was available, the LG would rattle so hard it would slide off. Not so with this Ziweo drive! It is compact and light, but just satisfyingly solid enough to be durable and to hold its own weight down while it is spinning discs. It also has some decent anti-skid rubber on the bottom to keep it from sliding.The only “drawback” I see is that the max read speed is 24x where some drives go as high as 56x. However, I am not counting off against Ziweo for that. When duplicating discs, I had many issues where the disc image wouldn’t work when copied at a high speed, and turning the read speed down to 24x resolved this. Since I automatically set max read speed at 24x when duplicating discs, this lower read speed does not affect me. It also does not affect playback of CDs or DVDs so don’t let this hold you back.That’s another note. While the Ziweo drive does burn DVDs at 8x like most other drives, I ALWAYS set burn speeds for a max of 4x. This is because every single drive I have used, even expensive drives by HP, Hitachi, LG, and Dell, has produced a fair amount of failed discs when burning at 8x but this rarely ever happens at 4x. Since I only burn at 4x I cannot speak to how the Ziweo performs at 8x. However, it has now burned ten dual-layer DVD+Rs at 4x with no issue.I would definitely recommend this Ziweo DVD burner! You won’t beat these features and construction quality at this price, from someone who burns 10 to 15 DVDs a week.

Purchase made in April 2023. I was looking for an inexpensive dvd burner drive for my home video/data burning. Looked thru most of the buyer reviews on this drive. About 1/3 of the people gave bad reviews mostly saying the drive didnât work one way or the other. After considering the Pros (price <$20, slim case, USB 3 with USB C adapter, 2/3 positive reviews) and Con (1/3 bad user experiences and reviews), I have decided to give it a try mostly because I can always return it within the allowed Amazon return policy. The drive was delivered on time. Inside the dvd drive box is a simple instruction manual, the dvd drive and the USB C adapter tuck on the side which when the drive is pulled from the box fell out easily and could be lost if not careful. I immediately did several tests to see if the drive works because of the bad reviews I saw. Test 1: I plug the drive into my win10 laptop USB 2 socket. The drive powered on as expected with the little orange light shown for a short period of time on the front of the drive and Win10 recognized it as a DVD drive and assigned a drive letter to it. I then run a printer installation disc to install the printer driver to my laptop. The driver installed without any issues. So Test 1 passed. Test 2: I plugged the drive into my desktop USB C socket using the USB C adapter that comes with the drive. The little orange light comes on as expected and my desktop Win10 recognize it as a DVD drive and assigned a driver letter to it. I inserted a home video DVD disc I burned with another drive and played the video using the free 5kplayer downloaded from the internet. No issue so Test 2 passed. Test 3: I inserted a blank DVD disc and moved about 2 GB of data onto the blank disc and use the default burning ability that comes with Win10 ( right click on the DVD burner icon in Windows Explorer and select burn to disc) and the data burned on to the DVD at 8x speed without any issue. I verified the data by opening a PDF file on the disc and it opened as expected. so Test 3 passed. It also runs quite compared to the older dvd drive I had in my laptop. Based on the tests I done above, the inexpensive dvd drive works as advertised. Due to the short time I had this drive, no comment on the longevity of the drive. Suggested improvement to the manufacturer. Put a nylon string on the USB C adapter and have the string tie to the USB 3 cable so it will not get lost easily. Many other electronics I saw on the market now that comes with an adapter has done something similar and should not cost much to do for this drive. Overall I will give it 4 stars. If the adapter can be fixed to the usb cable with a nylon tie, I would have given this drive 5 stars. Of course I would also like the cable to be longer but it might not be feasible to maintain the compactness of the drive. So this is just a want not something against the manufacturer.

Easy to use
This External DVD saved me. I have a very old embroidery software that is all CD’s in which all 18 of them I needed to put onto my HP Laptop that does not have a CD/DVD drive.Took this out of the box….plugged the USB into my Laptop…..Windows 10 recognized it immediately, and I loaded all of my Embroidery files without a hiccup. I don’t believe you will be disappointed with this purchase. Drawer opens manually or by right click to open from Windows.

Plugged it into my laptop which doesn’t have a DVD drive and it worked right away. I loaded a bunch of DVD’s and CD’s into it and they all played fine. Did a couple of test disk writes and they were fine as well. Nero DiscSpeed verified high quality writes. For such a reasonable price, I can’t complain. The short cord could be a little longer but that’s about it. Keep in mind that this drive can only read CD’s and DVD’s BUT……you can write 1080P and 4K files to your blank DVD’s and they will be read fine as well.Oh, I removed a couple of screw and had a look inside the case……WOW! it’s actually got a SONY drive. Delightfully surprised!

This DVD/CD reader was purchased to use with an HP windows 10 notebook computer that didn’t have a built in device. It was inexpensive and easy to use with no additional software required, just plug and play. It work well and allowed the installation of software in a CD as well as being able to play music CDs. Good value for the price!

W is for win because it is so hard finding dvds and dvd players today, and this is the easiest way to see dvds in your laptop anytime anywhere! why didn’t i find this awesome product before?! it is perfect and portable and easy to connect and use and works smoothly. the packaging is so secure and great for the price, even the places to keep the usb after using is amazing.
