    The Best Adaptation So Far
Dune is one of the two most iconic works of fiction of the mid 20th Century, the other being “The Lord of the Rings”. Both books were major milestones in their genres and for much the same reasons. Dune was the first true space-epic in a very real sense. It was three or four times the length of any of its contemporaries and this as much as any thing set it apart. A book of this length has a lot in it and this makes it difficult to adapt. Add to this a density of material and a faithful adaptation becomes extremely difficult. While the original 1980s “Dune” adaptation wasn’t great, it was far from horrible. The special effects were incredible, especially of the Sandworms. In the early 2000s, the SciFi channel (now SyFy) adapted it into a limited-run series but deviated so far from the original that it was unrecognizable. This new adaptation has gone back to the source material and done what couldn’t be done previously, thanks to the development of CGI. With very few exceptions, this is a truly faithful adaptation. However this is only part one – which is a good thing. It’s not possible to tell this story properly with a single film, even if it runs to 3 hours. One major change from the Novel is that Dr. Kynes, the planetologist, has had a gender swap and is now female. This makes no real difference to the role and so it is inconsequential. Most of the noticeable changes are of this kind – they don’t violate the original at all.The only thing that annoyed me mildly was that I didn’t know this was just part one until after I had seen it the first time. I have bad memories of Ralph Bakshi’s “Lord of the Rings” adaptation where the proposed second film was never made. Happily that is not the case with this franchise.I firmly believe that this new interpretation of “Dune” does a fantastic job of adapting difficult material and this film is definitely worth seeing and owning.

    Its a HIT
I have seen both parts now and just hope like many others a sequel or another trilogy will be built upif not oh well both parts where good to watch and enjoy. Hey Amazon put some money into this production and just maybe in 2025 or2026 streaming will be so cool at above 1080p; just suggesting LOL. Thank you for the streaming thru Firestick 4K

    Now this DENIS VILLENEUVE Version…
IS “IT”! Thumbs & Fingers…DOWN, Baby! This is the beginning of young Paul Atreides surprising Future. And “What” a future. With his Bene Jesurret mothercoaching him along, the visions, and ultimately, the reality that unfolds, scheesch(!). Which just causes salivation to run down your neck in anticipation of ‘DUNE 2’! And DUNE 2, by crackie, dies the same thing! Only more so! COME ON…DUNE 3!

If you’re missing the digital copy code, do this
I’m rating the product itself. Normally, the Blu-Ray + Digital Copy edition comes with a paper insert. Mine came with no insert. I don’t know if the manufacturer stopped including it because the code is no longer valid, but I specifically bought this edition to be able to stream over Prime Video.I contacted Amazon support and after about 25 mins, the rep was able to escalate my problem and offer me a resolution. He said to buy the digital copy and he will refund my purchase.

    Just watch it.
Such a good remake. I really enjoyed the original, respected the novels, and usually despise remakes (or movies based on novels in the first place… it’s impossible to fit enough of the story in a typical movie format, I usually prefer mini series adaptations), but this one really came together beautifully.Just watch it.

    Awesome Sci Fi movie
Loved that it was a streaming format which helped not it needed to be paused as it is a lengthy movie. Quality was excellent

    Fine but flawed film
There is a lot to like about Dune. For one, the special effects and production design are incredible. Everything about the worlds of Caladan and Arrakis feels incredibly detailed and believable. From the high-class beauty of the interior decoration at Duke Leto’s castle to the dirty practicalities of Arrakeen’s architecture, everything looks great. The vehicle design is excellent too, as are the enormously majestic and terrifying sandworms. My issue with Dune is that it doesn’t quite have enough inside to back up its outside. The story itself is interesting, but feels a bit rushed despite its long runtime. I don’t feel like I really get to know the characters very well, and the fall of House Atreides doesn’t feel quite as impactful as it should because of this. The cast of this film is very impressive, but none of the actors get to do anything particularly interesting, and the film ends up feeling a bit flat despite its impressive visuals. When I first watched the film, I hadn’t read the book, but I have since read it thanks to a friend of mine who’s an overzealous Dune fan. Reading the psychologically rich original book really drove home how much this film is lacking in in-depth characterization, meaning that I still don’t love this film despite my newfound appreciation of the book.Still, the film definitely looks and feels great. My favorite part of the film is absolutely its music. Hans Zimmer brings it as alway with a remarkably distinctive and powerful soundtrack that has stuck out to me as one of the most memorable scores in recent memory.Overall, it’s not a bad film by any means, but I don’t think it’s great either, and it’s definitely pretty overrated.

  10. Cliente Amazon
