Bought a new laptop (LG Gram 17 inch 2022 32RAM 2TB) and I wanted to buy an external disc reader/writer for my library of well-preserved physical Rosetta Stone collections I’ve bought over the years. This worked perfectly for my needs. It works with Windows 11, is nice and compact, and stays in place very well.It doesn’t move at all when switching out discs during installs.Easy to re-package and store safely in its original box until needed.I don’t use it for anything other than what I explained above. However, if I did need it for any other purpose I’m confident it will complete the task. Price not too bad. Nice looking design, I like that the cord can store away, because as I said, I don’t have it out except when I need to use it for a specific purpose.Very satisfied. Another quality ASUS product.

Lightweight DVD drive
The DVD drive seems well-built but the tray seems like it could easily break if you don’t support it from underneath. The cable is a little short but the fact that it fits inside the case makes it easy to use and don’t have to track down a cable.

Shocked!
I’m doing this because I’m shocked. I am one of those ancient people who struggles with, no, I hate the Comcast remote, I’m phone challenged and everything is a struggle. Did I mention I’m old? So this external DVD Drive arrives and my expectations are zero, but I have a DVD I can’t replace or find at my local library so I’m desperate. I had a Pioneer external DVD Drive for several years and it worked 80% of the time, but it could not rip this one file on this DVD that I want. I got frustrated and tore the top off it. I felt much better, but I still did not have the file I wanted. The DVD drive in my desktop wouldn’t work either. So I opened the Asus and right off I see I have to buy an adaptor so the usb-c will fit in my usb 2 laptop. Not happy. It arrives 2 days later and now comes the test. It ripped it as though nothing was wrong with the DVD !!! All I did was plug it in and run MKV, no downloads and I did not even look at the instructions, CD or DVD that came with it. Am I pleased? Happy?? You bet and it was 30% of the price of my old Pioneer..

All I Wanted and Expected out if a DVD Drive
I was very pleasantly surprised with the internal cable compartment. However, the length of the cord was a bit disappointing. It was barely 6 inches long. Either a laptop on the go, that cord eould hscmve a real delight were it a bit longer.In every other aspect, the drive delivered well and was at least as much appreciated as could be.

Bought this to replace a Gotega External CD Drive that quit working after ripping a few CD’s. This one worked great and ripped over 250 CD’s. Also works with Windows 11 that the Gotega didn’t. Luckily, I had an old laptop when I was using the Gotega for the few it worked on. This one ripped discs the other one wouldn’t even read. Highly recommend it! Side Note; It ripped discs much faster than the other one.

well-designed but not functional
This ASUS drive looked great and is highly reviewed online. It didn’t work for me. I wanted a less-expensive drive with USB C to replace my old Apple super drive, to use with my new M2 MacBook air. I tried playing various DVDs to see how it worked. It kept randomly quitting and turning off, with the DVD stuck inside. I had to keep unplugging it and plugging it in again to get the DVD out. I got out my 15 year OLD MacBook air that still had a DVD drive and these DVDs played perfectly in it.I called the Amazon provided tech support number for ASUS and got no help there. I tried talking with someone at a call center who was totally unhelpful. I did my own research online to see if I could figure out what settings needed to be changed on my mac to accomodate this drive. I couldn’t find anything. It is supposed to work without any special driver.Some of the reviews mention how short the cord it, but that wasn’t a problem for me. The unit is noisy at first, before it calms down and gets quiet.I decided to return it.

Very good external DVD/CD drive. Very compact, very light (all plastic) and a kinda neat âpocketâ to stash the usb-c cord. Few things Iâve noticed after using it for a few daysâ¦1) it is so light you need to hold it down firmly when closing the tray2) I find it better to use 2 fingers/thumbs to close the tray3) sometimes gets a bit loud as the media spinsStill, I really like it and it works very well.

Very pleased with this product. Plugged it in and it worked – no problem. I like the way the cable recesses into the DVD player itself. The cable is quite short but I work from a laptop in the armchair, so it does sit nicely on the arm of the chair.

Connect with MacBook Pro purchased new in 2021, no drive pop up on screen, the drive canât be find by multiple ways of searching. On the package it says compatible with Mac and Windows 11. Returned.
