Fantastic and Fun To Use
This player is very well built and more importantly, works phenomenally well. Has great design with lighted time counter and easy to use buttons on the unit. The remote has all the bells and whistles you’ll ever need and simple to use. Will resume where you left off even after turning unit off. The flash drive works great and is a bonus to get with it. Anyone would be extremely happy with this product!

Great quality and performance.
This player hooked up to my old 10 inch TV in seconds and plays beautifully. The remote is easy to use with plenty of options and setup choices. The picture quality is excellent. You cannot go wrong with this unit.

Good Value
Works as advertised. I like this one because all of the basic controls ie: on/off, open/close, FF/rewind and pause/resume are located on the player as well as the remote. Nothing as frustrating as a remote that quits working rendering the player handicapped until a new comparable remote can be obtained. This remote has alot of features but isn’t very robust. Another good reason for on board controls. This seems to be a good value. Time will tell.

Best Little DVD Player
I have to say that this is the best DVD player that I’ve ever owned. It’s small but mighty. It was really easy to set up. It was my first time doing it on my own. All of the buttons on the DVD and the remote control are easy to operate. I was somewhat apprehensive because it wasn’t a brand that I had heard of. But I’m not disappointed at all. It’s a great player for a great price. If you’re looking, stop and buy this one. I’m so glad that I did.

This Megatek DVD Player is Excellent
I have two TVs, a plasma and a smart. The Megatek DVD Player does not work satisfactorily with the non-smart plasma TV. But it works beautifully on the LG Smart TV. The picture is perfect and the subtitles are easy to read when used. The operation of it is easy. I like it very much.

Plug & Play, Automatically play your PAL and NTSC DVDs
I wanted a DVD player that I could watch DVDs I purchased on both Amazon US and Amazon UK. For some reason, depending on what country you bought your DVDs from, they have embedded a specific region code into the disc. UK discs used the PAL format and US discs are formatted using the code NTSC. So here’s the dilemma, not all DVD players can read both kinds of discs. I still don’t understand the reason for this region code system. I live in the US but I can switch to Amazon UK and purchase DVDS there, have them shipped to my US address, but until recentl I had no way to view them because you couldn’t buy a PAL player in the US, and vice versa for the UK not having NTSC players available. Now that we can pick up a player such as this that automatically figures the region code and plays it according to format it’s wonderful. This little miracle machine, is easy as pie to set up, just plug it in to electric and, second plug goes into an available HDMI slot in the back of the TV. That’s it. Now I can watch my US region code discs of The Office and What We Do In The Shadows. Then pop them out and put in my UK region code discs of Plebs and Inside No. 9. And any other of my favorite shows no matter where I bought it. I have an HD Samsung smart TV and what this little DVD player sends to my screen is 100% HD. Not an ounce of degradation. I wish these region free DVD players were always available.*Edit – I’ve had this DVD player for almost a year, and I picked up one for my 80+ year old Mama this week because I haven’t had any problems with my original player. I’m writing this edit because I noticed a few people have had problems recently. I use mine a good amount, had it for almost a year, moved it around in different places in the house, my cat has been known to sit on top of it by the TV, and it survived quite nicely. It’s not an expensive machine so if it does poop out after a while I would feel like I got my monies worth. And finally, I mentioned my 80+ yr old Mom because it’s easy for her to use as well. She’s not really tech savvy but after I gave her a quick demo she can work it. It’s very simple actually. One button turns it on and off, one opens and closes the disc door, and there you go. Included remote is also simply set up and not too small.

Good DVD player but make sure no defects early on
My first DVD did not work properly; it skipped. Amazon was excellent and replaced it and I returned the defective player. This new player works well, very simple to set up and simple to use.

Ok, to be fair I just plugged everything in and it’s now playing my favourite CD. Tested and works with my USB drive too. So far, so good 🙂 For SGD100 it is doing its job decently, and it is able to do the same in one year’s time I would have gotten my money’s worth 😅 Go for it 👍👍👍

I set up an out-of-use (HDMI-capable) TV in my exercise room and wanted a DVD player to go with it. I figured I would buy this one for my main TV and move my cheapie DVD player from there to this new setup. But the feature that allows DVDs to be played where you left off was attractive. I don’t finish a DVD before I finish exercising, so I decided to use this player in the exercise room. BTW, that feature works well and is VERY handy. The picture is good as is the audio. I also was able to play an out-of-zone DVD with no trouble. For the price asked, it seems good value for all the features. I haven’t linked the TV and DVD remotes so can’t say about the ease of this. But it all setup easily, except…[UPDATE Aug 23, 2020: Even though my old cheapie player still works, it does not have HDMI, upscaling, multi-zone, or last play memory, so I bought a second one of these Megatek players for my main TV setup. The one described below with the 4:3 problem is hooked up to an inexpensive Insignia TV. I now have more experience playing the other one, which is hooked up to an expensive and more recent LG OLED TV. With this setup, I CAN get 4:3 playback using HDMI. I have to go into the LG’s setup menu and select 4:3, but it all works. BTW, the picture does look good (relatively speaking since this is older material I’m looking at). So as I suspected, it seems that the TV in use DOES come into play regarding 4:3 playback using HDMI. The catch seems to be not with this DVD player, but the TV in use with it. It is impossible to know what the situation will be with your TV’s interaction with this DVD player until you try it. I never had this problem with my old player and the Insignia TV because I could only use component. When I swapped in this Megatek player I assumed the problem previously described below was with the player. My apologies to Megatek. I’ll go 5 stars.]Many of the DVDs I play on this set are of older material. Specifically, they are in 4:3 (old TV) format. I have found that if you only hook up HDMI and play back using HDMI, the 4:3 source material will be stretched left and right. Personally, I do not like this effect. I have thoroughly gone through the setup menus of both this player and my TV and cannot override this. The workaround is to hook the DVD player to the TV with component cables. (Possibly the single-cable ‘Video’ output/input would work, too, but that really is poor quality, even for this older material.)When you insert a 4:3 DVD you can go to SETUP > GENERAL > TV DISPLAY >and set to 16:9, and this should now display 4:3 format discs in the center of the screen (i.e. no stretching). But, this only works with component cabling, not HDMI. (If you do use component cabling, make sure to go SETUP > VIDEO > COMPONENT > and set to YUV, or you will get nothing through those component cables.) It is possible that your TV will display 4:3 normally (depending on the TV and the settings).Component cabling doesn’t allow for the same video quality as HDMI. But source material old enough to be in 4:3 is likely to NOT be in high-def. So, this isn’t a big problem. And you can still hook up using HDMI cable as well, and toggle back and forth with your TV remote. It isn’t an elegant solution, but works well enough. Luckily I still had some decent quality video and audio cables to do this extra hookup.

For the fisrt hour I was impressed. Easy setup and decent upscaling, then:There is one big problem. On commercial DVDs (Rome, Sopranos, The Office) each DVD has several episodes. The first and second episode plays fine, and the upscaling good too. Sadly, It will not play later episodes. Sopranos – Disk 1. Episode 1, 2, 3 work. Episode 4 wont’s even start. Rome season 1,The second DVD has 3 episodes. 1, great. 2, near the end the picture gets progressively worse until it freezes. Using the menu to play the final 3rd episode fails completely – total freeze. The Office, Uk. Season 1, first 3 episodes play fine. 4,5,6, won’t even start.I have setup and resetup several times. Cleaned disks. Checked all connections. Tried two different high quality HDMI cables. Even tried using a different HDMI port on my TV. I know well about AV equipment and have ruled out bad connection, faulty cable, broken/scratched disk, TV issue, and have fully reset the player several times, including uplugging from the power, leaving it, then setting up again.Bottom line. It can only read the first parts of a DVD with episodes on it.The result is always the same. (See “Update,” below important.)This is upsetting because the upscaling is good for the price. (HDMI). However it’s kind of useless now as I can only watch the first one or two episodes of any drama/HBO series etc on any and all disks tried same problem.Update======The Amazon market place seller was extremely helpful and sent me a new one at no cost to me.Incredibly, this one has the same issues. It can play the beginning of disks fine, but cannot go past half way.I will not request another replacement. This is a product with low quality components. Two brand new players with the same issue is too much for coincidence.Others have had similar problems so I will trouble shoot a few more days, but I am quite sure it won’t work. The only good thing is the kindness of the seller. Regarding the product, very disappointed and cannot recommend.
