    ALMOST PERFECT
At 83 I’m easily impressed by modern tech, perhaps, but this little unit works so well it deserves 5 stars and more. As a confirmed DOM who lives alone with a generous DVD and Blu Ray “entertainment” collection, some of which I’ve cut myself off the Internet over the years, I appreciate the flexible, fast and responsive slow motion ONCE I GOT HELP FIGURING OUT HOW THE HECK TO GET TO IT, no instructions with the unit and I have not been able to get the manual from LG, it is a complicated process. For Slo-mo, generic to most CD players), when the unit is playing, hit the pause (||) button, then cycle through the six slow-mo settings by clicking the FF button. The beauty, literally, of slow-mo is digital images retain their clarity even frame by frame, OMG. My other minor gripe is the unit freezes if one jumps around from file to file too often, too fast when searching for a particular file on a DVD with many files: only option is to unplug its power and assume a kneeling position with hands clasped for 20 seconds. I LOVE THIS LITTLE BEAST.

    Christmas Gift
I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my daughter. She was able to set it up & play DVD’s quickly and without hassle. It has performed as advertised & is used heavily. Good value for the cost.

Area A/Region 1 only, but plays Dr. Who “Region Free” Blu-ray discs!
This is a low-cost Area A/Region 1 player, though I have seen “hacked” versions that will do discs from other regions, for nearly double the price. However, many US-market players will not work with region/area free discs made for European television standards which use a 50 Hz frame rate. The Greed of George Westinghouse extends into the 21st century — he was responsible for 60 Hz power being the US standard to lock out European competition for his power equipment, and the video industry has long taken advantage of the frame-rate difference for similar purposes — though it shouldn’t happen where the discs are “Region/Area Free.” This player also works with “region free” DVDs from the land of PAL, though it “properly” rejects Region 2 discs.I strongly recommend downloading the 62-page Owner’s Manual from LG’s website, since the supplied “Simple Manual” covers only the basic connections, and these players have a lot of features that may not work as expected. There have been a few comments about trouble with the sound, so I’ve added a picture showing where the settings can be found. While monaural is just fine for most things I watch, the manual notes that if “Audio Guidance” (whatever that is) is set to “on” the digital audio output will be PCM, regardless of other settings, preventing DTS audio from being sent, and you will be stuck with just primitive 2-channel stereo.I have not tried the “streaming” features, which need a wired internet connection (no Wi-Fi) and my main interest was in playing the BBC’s area-free discs.Physically, the player reflects its low cost, but seems adequate for most purposes, unless you want to play 3D or 4K discs. There is a light indicating the machine is turned on, but it is quite dim. No other illumination comes from the front panel, so checking how much time remains on a program requires bringing up an on-screen display. Also, the only output is HDMI, making it a little difficult to connect to many audio systems. The remote is small and cheaply made, but it works well. It needs to be pointed with some accuracy at the player, which I prefer since I also have an older LG model and don’t want both players to operate at the same time. While I’m not enthusiastic about having another “wall-wart” power supply to fit into the tangle of extension cords, this one is at least fairly small. The supplied adapter is 120V only.Amazon seems to ship these from a variety of dealers; as noted in other reviews, accessories may not always be exactly as shown. I don’t know how long it will last, but for well-under $100, this seems to be a fine Blu-ray player.

Great basic unit for 1080 resolution
I use a simple sound bar with my television, which is mounted above the fireplace in my living room. This basic unit is small, and it fits on the mantle very well. I have a couple of other reviews of a right angled HDMI adapter and a right angle power cable extender that allow me to push this right up to the wall. My TV goes up to 1080p, so I didn’t need a fancier player. WIth my soundbar, I have 2.1 channels, and the sound from this Blu-Ray player passes through very well. I also bought a second player for our guest room. This plays Blu-Rays very well, and it also plays the DVSs that I still have. I created a slideshow DVD on my computer in DVD format, and it plays that as well.

    Very satisfied
Works fine, very good value for the money.

    Great dvd player
This was a excellent choice. So far every time I’ve bought a dvd player it seems to only last about 5 years and then I have to replace it. Don’t know why they don’t make them to last longer than that. I read a lot of reviews before making this purchase. I’m not a super expert on technical things but this dvd player was super easy to connect and ready to play movies on within minutes. One of the reasons I chose this one was because I already had the connection cord for the internet. Can’t remember what it’s called. I also already had the HDMI cord so now I have a backup if needed. This dvd player isn’t very big either so it doesn’t take up much space at all. It does come with a remote control and the buttons take a bit to get used to but that’s to be expected. So far we love it. I think you will too if you’re looking for a new one. And it is blu-ray.

    Perfect for my 5th wheel
I recently took possession of a new 5th wheel. It came with a beautiful 4K TV but the player was not Blu-ray. I didn’t need or desire any extra features. All I want is something insanely simple to play my disks when being outside just isn’t practical.I am in heaven! I removed the unit from the box and it had everything I needed. I hooked it up, turned it on, and inserted a disk. I sat down, turned on the TV, and selected the correct HDMI port, and the unit was already ready for me to hit play.I was very pleased, and it got much better. The quality was great. The screen looked fantastic and have had no issues.I will soon be buying more. My Front 5th wheel bedroom also could use this, and it’s very compact. My semi can also use one, and it will be a great addition. My home bedroom also could use one. While I have a full feature Blu-Ray there, my wife is in the beginning stages of dementia, and this unit is very simple to use. If I had younger kids, I could see them benefit from the simplicity of this unit.I plan to buy more, and if you are looking for a unit to use in your RV, you should really look at this one.
