Love this friendship!
This is a movie based off a book. While I never read the book, but plan on reading! This story is just so darn good. It has wonderful quirky characters, drama and strong female main characters. And really, how can you go wrong with these awesome actresses. Kathy bates is wonderful and believable. Especially for that time frame that the montages place. And let’s not forget the absolutely wonderful Jessica Tandy! And of course Mary Stuart Masterson and Mary-Louise Parker!!! These 4 wonderful women really brought this story to life and then some! While it’s considered an oldish movie, it touches on subjects that resonates today. I highly recommend this movie for everyone!!!!!

Great
Such a great movie. A classic for the 80s not sure it would be politically correct today but the main characters are all women which was a big deal for that time period heartwarming and instructive. Women need close girlfriends and older women mentors which are the themes of this movie

Very Cleverly written
A well written script, a great director, along with just the right people to play the parts equals a wonderful movie that can have you laughing one minute and crying the next. Such a well told story.

Excellent story of friendship. An unhappy housewife visits a nursing home and unexpectedly meets Jessica Tandy. Eachtime she visits Tandy tells her a story o f Fried Green Tomatoes Restaurant and 2 female friends. Mary Louise Parker and Mary Stuart Masterson are childhood friends. Tragically Parker’s brother dies in a train accident. Parker marries, her husband is abusive and Masterson takes Parker away. Cicely Tyson is a friend who helps cook in the restaurant. Parker’s husband is a member of the KKK and whips a black friend of Masterson. He returns to get his wife and we think Masterson kills him. Later we find out Tyson has hit him, later we find that husband makes a good barbecue sauce as an ingredient. Masterson is out in trial for the murder but gets free due to the testimony of the minister. Parker has a son who gets in a train accident and loses his arm. Bates becomes a new woman as a result of interacting with Tandy. She Evan tells her husband she wants Tandy to stay with them. We see the forlorn cafe and Parker’s gravestone. Love the story, love the cast. Special features, making of, delegated scenes and outtakes. 1991 and still relevant and touches heart and soul.

Esta es una de las pelÃculas que es prudente tener en copia fÃsica y asà no depender de catálogos en lÃnea (streaming) ni de búsquedas en Internet. Vale la pena para verla varias veces.
